Scramble

Yesterday afternoon we were all hanging about in the yard, me and H sweeping up and Housemate, newly returned from hoof carving, chatting to one of the livery owners, when a strange car pulled into the yard.
A lady got out and asked if any of us owned a dog she had seen on the lane, a dog wearing a flying jacket. Naturally H & I laughed at this , the lady must be from Hopton Cangeford and been at the cider, then this cantered into the yard...

Yes it was Wing Commander Darcington D.F.C. (Doggy First Class), having shot down a couple of Fokkers over Clee Hill he was returning to base. Tally Ho!

The eagle eyed will have noticed that the fire has been lit behind our aviator, it looks like Autumn has finally arrived and it won't be long before there will be rug changing, mud, dark evenings, more mud etc. Sigh

Today's card at Exeter has been decimated by the firm ground so that the fields are small and value difficult to find. My nap is Trooper Clarence in the 3.10. He took a heavy fall two races ago and jumped carefully at Fontwell last time, but I'm hoping that he has regained his confidence and that 7/1 is a good price.
