The Gold Standard of barking

There is a saying about barks being worse than bites but Ari is testing my resolve on this at the moment. He takes his guard dog job very seriously and there is little that moves in the vicinity, in fact there is little that moves in the County without him letting everyone know. This can be a good thing except that he doesn't know when to stop. He needs to take some time off as he has been particularly vigilant in the last few days. The point to point horses in the yard were being taken to the gallops at 6.30 yesterday morning, woof woof woof. They came back at 7.30, see above. Livery lady and Cruella's PA arrive everyday to do their horses, every day mark you, makes no difference to the ruthless one. A severe barking at is their reward

On Friday I had Sky+ed a documentary about The Lark Ascending, my third favourite piece of Vaughan Williams music.

This is the orchestral version not the pared down version BBC4 used

5 Variants on Dives and Lazarus and The English Folk Song Suite, are nos 1&2 since you ask. ANYWAY.  I had settled down in the peace and tranquillity of the Music Library here to enjoy the programme. The performance was nearing the end, the part where the violin soars ever upwards, as the lark spirals into the clouds before disappearing, when Gershwin from next door went out for his late evening stroll around his garden, BARK BARK BARK went Ari's accompaniment to the music. Have to say that it did not add to the ambiance.

                                   "For Goodness sake stop barking".......Woof

Last night was no better, the NLND hadn't applied for a late pass and when she returned from her Extreme Needlework class after hours he was off again. I don't know how DJ sleeps through it but she does
